Roadbook open pitlane trackday

First post of the year :) With some nice weather forecasted I planned a trip to Spa. Roadbook organized an open pitlane trackday at Spa Francorchamps. It was the first time they did this and it was quite a success. Roadbook are the organisers of the Spa summer classic and the Spa 6 hours, both events for historic cars. So I didn’t know what to expect. Some nice historic racecars showed up but also some more recent cars, like a Ford GT. I was also very impressed with some other very fast American machinery, 2 new Mustang racecars and a couple of Corvettes. Lots more interesting cars, like a very rare Healey SR and Lancia Stratos can be seen in this gallery.

Venturi 400GT

Probably my last trip to Spa Francorchamps this year, as the winter is coming. It was just a bit to cold to spent the whole day outside taking photos. The clouds didn’t help much to take nice pictures. I deleted loads of photos that I had taken in the morning, they were all to dark and had to much noise. Marc Duez test days as this track day is officially called attracts a very wide variety of cars. Ranging from humble Seats (which sponsors this event) to the serious track machinery like the Porsche GT3 RS. Some more exotic machinery also, my favorite being the Venturi 400GT pictured above. Not the first time I have seen it at Spa. A Ford GT is always a nice sight, and very rare in Belgium. Audi was presenting the R8 to a select bunch of people, several R8′s were driven around the track showing them what it can do.

Spa 6 hours

After a well deserved 4 week holiday I came home to find a press pass for the Spa 6 hours in my mail. It was the first time I received a press pass for an event at Spa Francorchamps. Since I never had this opportunity I didn’t have a clue were the best spots were to take some pics. So I walked and drove around the track looking for some good places, but the sun wasn’t playing nice. I didn’t find a place to make a photo with a good composition.
All photos were taken sunday afternoon, the actual 6 hour race was on saturday. On sunday there were some more historic races, I made pictures of the BRDC historic sportscars, Grand Prix Masters and the GT & Sports Endurance Masters.
